George Hotel Wedding Photographer | Nichola & Ben

Today I’m looking back on Nichola and Ben’s intimate wedding at the picturesque George Hotel in Buckden.

This was a small wedding, which meant I was able to really get to know the guests and capture lots of photos of everyone throughout the day.

I was also mindful of one VIP – Nichola and Ben’s 2-year old daughter Sophia. When I’d met with the couple before the wedding they told me how much they wanted her to be a big part of the day. Knowing this, I made sure to take plenty of photos of Sophia with mum and dad, as well as her grandparents and relatives.

The day started off with me photographing the bridal party. Nichola was super nervous until the prosecco was opened, then she seemed a bit more relaxed!

Once I’d got some photos of the girls I joined the groom and his best man in the bar downstairs, where they were having a little Dutch courage.

Just as everyone was ready, we had a tiny disaster! There was a huge thunderstorm and the hotel had a power cut. Was it going to be a ceremony by candelight? Thankfully it didn’t last long and the power came back on just in the nick of time.

The wedding was back on, and everyone gathered in in the Orangery for what was a really intimate and emotional ceremony.

After the ceremony, as guests enjoyed drinks I headed off with the newlyweds for some couples shots in the nearby Buckden Towers. The gardens and the grounds are awesome, as you can see, and we got these amazing photos before the heavens opened again!

Then it was time for the wedding reception, the food at The George is fantastic – one of the main reasons Nichola and Ben chose this venue. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone.

Once the speeches and the meal were over, it was time for nighttime couples shots. The sun was setting and the sky had cleared to leave the most incredible skies – we were so lucky that day. 

Then it was party time! I caught some beautiful moments during the first dance, and also as Nichola danced with her dad. Sophia had a great time on the dance floor too!

Nichola and Ben are an amazing couple, I had so much fun shooting their wedding and I wish them all the best for the future. It’s also great to know that Sophia will be able to look back at these photos of her family’s big day in 10,15 or 20 years. I am sure she’ll enjoy reminiscing over this lovely day.
