South Farm Wedding Photographer | Lee Allison
I love being a South Farm wedding photographer. It’s one of my favourite wedding venues around the South East. I’m also honoured to be a recommend supplier with them which means I shoot at the venue loads.
South Farm, is located just outside of Royston in Shingay-cum-Wendy. It is a beautiful shabby chic wedding venue that can suit many different tastes, it reminds me of an Italian tuscan villa tucked away on the edge of Cambridgeshire. There are plenty of options for either an indoor ceremony in the Old Dairy, Tudor Barn or Drawing Room or a beautiful outdoor ceremony in the Summerhouse. You also have some cool old style caravans that your guests can stay in.
History of South Farm wedding venue
South Farm dates back to the Tudor times of the 16th Century and over the years the barns and farm have been renovated and restored. It was first bought as a derelict farm back in the 1970’s by a guy called Philip Paxman. The farm is set in 20 acres of beautiful gardens providing the perfect backdrop to any wedding. They still have livestock such as pigs and chickens.
After all of the early renovations the Paxman family moved in to use it as their family home. It wasn’t until 2004 when the venue was first listed as a wedding and functional venue. The first ever wedding was held a year later in 2005. Since that first wedding the venue has changed so much. Some of the things they have added include – a winter garden, herb garden, enlarged pond with summerhouse and most recently an extension to the Tudor Barn which provides the perfect space for your wedding evening.
If you are looking for a barn/farm wedding I would highly recommend South Farm. The venue speaks for itself but the staff and team there are second to none. Professional and friendly, they will make your day extra special.
