Turkey Wedding Photographer | Hollie & Tom
A hen, stag and a wedding do all rolled in to one? Yes please! Here are some highlights from Hollie and Tom’s amazing destination wedding in Turkey.
Hollie and Tom contacted me back in July 2017, after seeing my Dubai destination wedding photography for Georgia and Adam. They wanted natural, relaxed documentary-style photography for their day, and I was the perfect match for them. I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding and eagerly started researching the destination ahead of time.
Fast forward to October 2018 and I was at Stansted airport ready to jet off to Kalkan in Turkey. I arrived early, as I knew they were having their Stag and Hen dos ahead of the wedding.
I met up with the Stags the same evening, at a nearby bar where they were watching the football. I also bumped into the Hens on the way back to my hotel – although they were a little worse for wear haha. Usually destination weddings start with pre-drinks the night before, but these guys rolled their Hen and Stag dos into the trip aswell!
The next day I scoped out the local area and then met up with Hollie and Tom in the evening to check out the venue. They were getting married at the same time the next day, and it was really great to see what the light was like at the venue.
The stunning venue, Villa Mavi Koy, overlooks Kalkan as well as the Med – incredible views! On the day of the wedding, I first divided my time between the grooms and the bridal party. As with many destination weddings, the day started around lunchtime – which makes things all the more chilled. I spent some time photographing the bridal party before hopping across the road to a nearby villa where the boys were.
The ceremony started at 4.30pm, just as the weather was cooling down a little. The setting was amazing – at the foot of the villa with a view of the Mediterranean. Could you ask for a better view?
The wedding reception took place in the grounds of the villa; it was a super relaxed day. I find destination weddings are actually more relaxed than those back home. Once all the guests are here they have more time to spend with the bride and groom, and you get an amazing holiday vibe from the whole day too.
For the reception, Hollie and Tom partied Turkish style! We enjoyed a great spread of Turkish food, live music, belly dancing and even fireworks.
Hollie and Tom picked the most incredible location for their relaxed, fun Turkish destination wedding – the town is perfect for partying and the venue has an enviable view of the Mediterranean. I didn’t realise Turkey was such a great place for a destination wedding – it has it all.

Really lovely set of photos Lee – the couple must be thrilled. I particularly love the portrait of them with the three beams of light.
Awesome set Lee. So envious of a destination like this. Looked awesome. I actually read every word of the blog for a change ha ha.
Hey buddy! Yer it was a sick venue and location! It doesn’t really get much better than this 😉
