Weddings at Trinity Buoy Wharf
One of London’s coolest urban wedding venues has to be Trinity Buoy Wharf. Located along the Thames river it is perfect space for an urban wedding celebration. It’s the perfect place to get married if you want something a little different and I love to be a Trinity Buoy Wharf wedding photographer. Shooting here is a dream and with so many cool photo backdrops the possibilities are endless. Trinity Buoy Wharf is one of the most unique venues in London and you get the added bonus of the views across the Thames.
Becky and Antony’s wedding was super stylish with a chilled vibe.
It was jaw dropping day from the moment I arrived at bridal prep at ME London. Becky and her girls were getting ready in an incredible suite, with panoramic views over London. The natural light was a photographers dream, and the atmosphere was buzzing!
The day got better and better as we headed to the ceremony at St Stephen Walbrook Church. What a truly incredible church this is, completely breathtaking.
We then hopped on buses to the awesome Trinity Buoy Wharf. One of my favourite wedding venues. It sounds cliché but it’s just so dam cool!
I just love photographing weddings at Trinity Buoy Wharf. There are so many options for cool photo opportunities, whether it’s the cool brick work or the colourful containers. It is a photographers dream!
Stunning light for a wedding in the Chainstore
The light during the ceremony is just perfect for wedding photos because of the large bright windows to the right as you walk in, lighting the newlyweds perfectly. After the rings were exchanged and register signed, it was time for drinks and canapés on the terrace. Confetti followed later and some portraits of the couple.
For the evening the couple had hired Skynights band, everyone loved their mix of covers and there was plenty of singing along happening.
What Trinity Buoy Wharf has to offer
For a super cool urban wedding you need to look at Trinity Buoy Wharf. The Chainstore has direct access to the Wharf’s Jubilee Pier and it also gives you the opportunity for your guests to arrive by boat. There are also stunning views over the river and you can see the O2.
The large entrance also means that you can have vehicles inside the building. This could be perfect for a Gin or cocktail bar and the space is licensed for music, alcohol and dancing until 1am which is perfect for your wedding party.
There is a magnificent lighthouse that is connected to the Chainstore and you can head up there for stunning views across the Thames. The original lighthouse was built in 1952 by the engineer James Walker but was demolished in the late 1920’s. A second lighthouse was then built around 1864 by James Douglas for Trinity House. This was used to test lighting systems for Trinity House’s lights around England and Wales. Both lighthouses were also used for training prospective lighthouse keepers.
The Wharf today also boasts creative industries, workplaces for people that work to provide transportation on the river, classrooms for education and indoor and outdoor spaces for arts events. There is also a museum on site too.
You can also eat here with two eateries – Fat Boy’s Diner and The Orchard Cafe. The former is a 1940’s style American Diner with shakes and the best burgers around. The Orchard Cafe is situated in a shipping container and serves a variety of food to all the workers in and around the Wharf.
Where to get married
Weddings come is all shapes and sizes so you have two options for your ceremony:
The first option is The Chainstore. This is a Grade II listed brick building
with triple height ceilings and plenty of character. Built in 1854 and connected to London’s only Lighthouse, the venue offers 420m2 of space with an optional 1,528 m2 of riverside terrace. The perfect space for the bigger weddings. The room can be split up into two allowing you to have your wedding breakfast in one side and then the other for the party and dancing.
The second option is the Electrician Shop. This was Constructed in 1835 and is a very characterful space in a former industrial building. The first of the two rooms has limited light revealing exposed brick work and steel pillars. In contrast the second room is a long and light space painted in white with clean lines.
